Of Ancient Mesopotamian origins, the perception of – and later general view of the mythical Beast called The ''Sea Goat'', would go on to become a major image and symbolism for that Culture as well as Ancient Greece (and other Nations of The Period). The Beast was half-Goat and half-Fish, and said to have been a ''cast off'' creation of Zeus (by Greek tradition). As for Mesopotamia, no clear origins are known, save for it's association with certain Royal Houses. As such, many early forms of coinage bore The Sea Goat image. The mythical creature can even be found mentioned in Ancient Judaism – possibly relating to Leviathan.
