A ''Water Hag'' Demon whose legend goes back to the 17th Century in Northern England, ''She'' is said to inhabit The Tees River. Seen as a ''Cautionary Tale'' used b y Parents to keep errant children away from water unattended, ''Peg Polwer'' lays in wait by The River for children to come too close then snatches them to drown a watery death. She is depicted in true ''Haggish'' fashion (warts, slime etc). She also has a Sister named ''Nanny'' (who performs a similar function at The Skerne River).
