First ''discovered'' in the 12th Century AD in Scotland – ''Painted Pebbles'' were attributed to around the 2nd Century AD. These are small, polished stones of common (local) origins, which Ancient Tribals Clans (perhaps Picts), painted and engraved various imagery and symbols relating to Religion and Superstitions. It is thought, that by carrying such pebbles, ''Evil'' was shunned. However, the opposite was true, as ''Bad Pebbles'' probably conveyed ''Bad Luck''.
