A ''Toy'' dating back to 14th Century AD Japan, ''Okiagari-Koboshi'' is a semi-rounded device, made of formed and hardened paper, which is weighted inside by small pebbles. They are then given (painted) a face to resemble a small child. Often given to Parents of newly born Male infants as a toy, they are seen to mean ''resilience and courage'' be instilled into the child. The toy rolled to the left and right, back and forth when pushed by a child. Today, Okiagari-Koboshi are still given in much the same way.
