A common Deity to several West African Tribes, ''Ogun'' is The Protector of Metal Workers and Warriors. When His influence was transported to Haiti by Slaves, He was taken as a Loa in Voodu. Ogun in this form is used as Protector of Rum and Rum Making. While Metal is used by Hunters, it is with this component that Ogun's sacrifice is made. Normally Dogs used in Hunting are slain in His honor. It is important that Ogun be made happy prior to a Hunt or even Battle for the required success.
