In Bangladeshi (Bangladesh, India) Mythology – ''Bhoots'' are a form of Ghost or Spirit. Unlike tradition variations, Bhoots do not have to have been Human or even animal. Their origins are also often based on superstitions and related beliefs used to explain phenomenon. The Meccho Bhoot is said to be a Water dwelling Spirit, often described as a large ''Ball of Fur'' with ''large eyes and mouth''. They can sometimes take the form of an Old Man. The Mechho Bhoot likes to linger near rivers and lakes – or just about anywhere fish and fishermen are found. The constantly ''beg'' for food (fish). Traditionally, One should give a fish to a Bhoot of this nature – for they will NOT leave you along until you do!
