The unique Ainu People of developed on several Islands located in The Sea of Okhotsk. Deriving from both Japanese and Rus (Russian) influences, They have a complex religious belief system. The Ainu believe in The ‘’Kamuy’’. These are Spirits that are disembodied (being neither animal or Human). As such, The Kamuy often try to ‘’possess’’ Human Hosts, by which They can ‘’live and experience’’ Life. They can be both ‘’Good and Bad’’ (depending more on the original nature of Their Host). Some Ainu readily ‘’welcome’’ Kamuy (brought about from ritualistic chanting and dancing), while others do not seek ‘’Bad’’ Kamuy. Commonly believed as well, is that ‘’Bad Kamuy’’ can only be ‘’removed’’ by a Priest or Shaman. These concepts are very similar to The Christian ideology of ‘’Demonic Possession’’.
