The ''Hamsa'' is a Talisman relative to Northern African and later The Middle East. It is both made to be displayed in a Home or worn on the Body. The Hamsa is made differently depending on The Region used. Some are hand shaped, while other incorporate a Human Eye with the appendage. Historians link The Hamsa to a much later Ancient Egyptian Goddess known as Tanit, and was likewise used for protection from Evil. It is often confused with The ''Eye of Horus''. Most Hamsa are very elaborate and decorated. Some versions are made of Gold and Silver with precious stones and gems encrusted and shaped into the traditional hand image. Judaic Custom still uses The Hamsa as a ''Good Luck'' item, often given to those who receive their first Home.
