Dating to Ancient Imperial Rome, a ''Genius Loci'' was perceived as being a ''Spirit'' of a specific location, in particular a Home. This Spirit was generated by the ''Spiritual Energy'' of the Family or persons therein. An early example of the previously discussed Psychometry – The Genius Loci was personified by a plaque placed outside of the entrance to a residence. In symbolism, a Male Figure was painted, holding a Reptile (Snake). Some other examples were bowls of fruit or even simply the representation of the Family therein only. The Genius Loci was found even in use on Imperial Homes and Palaces.
