The Mayan Mythology spoke of The God Ek Chuaj, who was seen as Patron (Protector) of the scared Cacao Plant, this plant's leaves were used to manufacture what would become chocolate. In The Mayan Culture, Cacao was seen as a sacred food, and used as an offering to The Gods. Cultivated, Ek Chuaj was invoked to make sure the plant was protected and grew. If suitable honors were not made to Ek Chuaj, the Harvest was blighted.
