From Ancient Etruscan Mythology, Charun was the possible origin for Greece's ''Charon'' or Ferryman on The River Styx (a Riverway in The Underworld). But unlike His task which was to convey Souls to Hades and Judgment, Charun was a Demon whose mission was to torment. Charun was also associated with Decay and in particular the rather unpleasant odor which resulted. Charun was portrayed in Art as a Hybrid Creature, which was mostly Human (Male), the nose of a Vulture, a pair of Boar Tusk's jutting from His Head and ''eyes of flame''. Winged, Charun may also have been an early version of a ''traditional'' Demonic Entity.
