An Northern Italian Folk Myth, The Borda is an Evil Spirit that personifies itself as an Old Woman (or Hag). She appears blindfolded or has some obvious handicap. She ''haunts'' near Swamps and Marshes. Calling for help, if an unfortunate person tries to help Her, She kills them (only after revealing Her ''true'' horrible form). It is thought that this was a tale invented as a means of scaring young Children into behaving their Parents and not speak to Strangers.
