While such a species of Bird does in fact exist (commonly in The North Atlantic Regions) -  The Barnacle Goose was thought to ''come from'' Sea Barnacles (as far back as the 8th Century AD). It was said that their ''eggs'' would attach to Seaweed and with tidal drift, would make their way to shallow Ocean Fronts. The eggs would ''climb inside'' Barnacle shells and in time ''hatch''. This led to the ''belief'' that The Geese were born from Barnacles. The myth was actually believed until the very early part of the 19th Century. Perhaps The Geese laid their eggs on or near The Shells and  presto, ''Barnacle Geese''.
