Ashur was viewed as God in 3rd Century BC Assyria. Depicted as a ''Winged Sun'' Deity, Ashur was viewed as The ''Father of Gods'', with Bull Horns and other imaging associated with Assyrian Warrior ethos. In addition to Temples, Ashur imaging was placed on Military Barracks and sometimes even Shields and Armor. It is assumed that with this image, a Warrior was ''protected''. Much of Ashur's Cult had disappeared by the 10th Century BC.
