A ''Devil'' so portrayed as a Guard of The Eighth Circle of Hell, Alichino was written of by Satirist Dante Alighieri, in His Tome ''The Divine Comedy'' (aka ''Dante's Inferno'') – in 1320. The Demon was responsible for ensuring that Souls so condemned in boiling pitch, did not escape. When He was confounded with a question that could not be answered, He sought the aid of another Demon. The question was just as confounding to this Demon, and it caused a quarrel. Alichino and His compatriot began to physically fight and both fell into The Pitch – allowing Victims to escape (and no doubt causing great annoyance to Lucifer!)
