The Mayan God of Bees and Honey (both of who were seen as sacred by The Mayans), Ah-Muezen-Cab was said to inhabit the bodies of the insect. To be stung by a Bee that ''did not sting'' was seen as a blessing by that God. Many Beekeepers (who harvested Honey as a religious offering), who were never harmed by Ah-Muezen-Cab, were highly prized and honored in Mayan Society.
