While the origins of the type of Divination known as Abacomancy are unknown the practice may have originated in Central Europe. The style involves the ''reading'' of various patterns of dust or sand that are shaken from a whisk broom or ceremonial stalk of herbs or related. These are interpreted as ''pictures'' or ''messages'' used to predict the future or see the past. In a related form of Abacomancy, the use of Human ashes (Cremation), were also placed on the Whisk and shaken to the ground. If read properly, a ''message'' from The Departed was ''read''.
