Week #15 - Stronghold 2

Recommended Posts

Your challenge is: Setup a script to move a ship from one corner of the map (your map from week #12) to another, taking with them an invasion. The invasion must then invade and destroy a castle for Lord Barclay built into the hills.

For this challenge, it would be best if you tried to leave as much of the original intact map as possible. You can alter the terrain, but it would be best if this was only altered slightly. Also, you will be marked on the scripting this week, not landscaping.

Note: Your entry must be attached to this topic by Midnight on Saturday to be counted in this challenge (17/4/16 23:59). If no entry is attached (via .zip. then your entry will not be counted! The results will be revealed on Sunday.

Good luck everyone!

If you haven't already entered then you can make a new map from scratch. But it's still scripting that we're focussing on.

But i can use my own One from week 12?

Yes - you can use your castle from week 12.

Anything you like! As long as it complies with the criteria, you can have as many invasions, boat invasions, additional invasions .etc as you want! :)

You have to destroy it, but you could destroy it with a trebuchet, for example. It can be destroyed with anything.

And for the ship, its just Builded from a Viking boat + a trade ship.

You can use Trade Ships, Viking Ships, or even both together if you want. If you read the bottom article on the help list (first post) it gives you a guide as to how to move ships effectively, and some ideas that you may want to include.

My Problem is just that a Trebuchet Or any other Siege equipment will Not be Used BY the Invasion because theres no suitable way for e.g. Trebuchet's.

So i would Like to ask wether its allowed to use a Pre-Bild Trebuchet for that?

Just to drop this one here... That week the challenge was to create "a non-functional, scenery based map with rivers, waterfalls, hills and cliffs", so seas were not mentioned. It's not an issue, sea can be easily added, but I wanted to note this one. :)

Yes, you could use a pre-built trebuchet if you need to.

You can't upload .exe files as they are blocked by the forum. I'd just upload the map file instead in a .zip as usual.

Yes, that works - but I'd still recommend you just upload the map file. exe files do simplify things but personally I prefer to make changes needed by hand.

I would really like to mention, that its quite unfar to say that e.g. a map wins the weeks contest because of the opinion of two persons.

I would like it more if more people would be able to decide ehos best.

Do you mean you'd rather have two people judging the challenges rather than one?

There should be at least 9 or 10 Persons judging that.

If 2 people just Like the Design of a map personally than maybe someone Else might has Labor

Another opinion.

This should only be for the creative and not for those with Gaming objectives.

Well first of all there isn't enough staff here, second contest should have more entries like 20-30 to have more judging people. Sadly we don't have both ?

Years ago, with some realism, I have imagined and documented Sarum Castle — a formidable fortress along the North Norfolk Coast in England during the early 1400s fully sustained by its household and town. Key features which you can consider for your own castle: Concentric design: Two defensive layers around the keep, with moats, drawbridges and barbicans. Defensive tricks: Trebuchets, mangonels, ballistas, rolling logs, oil and stone tippers along different hidden traps and k
