Your opinion of rats, gong, and criminals in Stronghold 2?

Recommended Posts

I think this isn't a bug. It is obvious with that Firefly did want to make it possible for players to rebuild. This with popularity works in the same way in all other Stronghold games until Stronghold 3 and Crusader 2 in which popularity works entirely different. Also, take the example with woodcutters hut which costs 0 wood if you have no other woodcutters hut. This works the same way in all Stronghold games as far as I know. I'm pretty sure that is no mistake.

Perhaps that is the case! Come to think of it, if it was as I described, then the popularity would go back up to 100.?

I've tried it in the past and it is definitely true for SH1, SHC, SH2, SHL, and SHC2. I am pretty sure it is the same with SH3. - I know because one of my strategies involves spending all of my starting wood on a market and industry, then place a free woodcutter and buying some more wood to build more woodcutters. :)

I agree. I can't help but think of the "constitutional peasants" from Monty Python and the Holy Grail who stick around after a collapse of the local feudal system. :P

That's an interesting one :P Does this really work?

Well, I don't know if that is truly more efficient, but I like Charles' creativity! :D I mean, for me it seems to be more efficient to build woodcutters right away when the game starts, so I would sooner get more wood. In this case Charles gets 3 wood for building one woodcutter free of charge, but does "lose" some wood for building his woodcutters some time later. Still, it's not that he gets only those 3 wood for the first woodcutter, he would get some other materials sooner as well. So I guess we really cannot tell without knowing how does exactly Charles start the game.

But let's not think about efficiency so much, and just enjoy the game. Let everybody choose for themselves what is the best tactic for them. :) Stronghold games are where I simply love diversity! :D

I use the same strategy as @Charles of Tours too - it works very well. It really helps you to get more of an industry up quicker, providing you have the peasants left over, of course! It works even better in Stronghold Legends where Wood Camps are over 6 times more expensive than Saw Pits from SH2.

Think it also works on SHC2 as well.

    • Sarum Castle: Sharing Ideas on a Medieval Stronghold I Have Researched and Built

Years ago, with some realism, I have imagined and documented Sarum Castle — a formidable fortress along the North Norfolk Coast in England during the early 1400s fully sustained by its household and town. Key features which you can consider for your own castle: Concentric design: Two defensive layers around the keep, with moats, drawbridges and barbicans. Defensive tricks: Trebuchets, mangonels, ballistas, rolling logs, oil and stone tippers along different hidden traps and k
