Though I can't be fully sure this is true with stronghold 1 as I've never played it, most of the game versions for the others are forwards compatible but not backwards compatible - so if anything it would be the 1.1 version that would have the difficulties playing your file.

Crusader 2 will be Steam Exclusive!
Lord_Chris replied to Lord_Chris's topic in Stronghold Crusader 2
Hmm, I don't fully believe them on that either. I know loads of people who despise Steam (including myself) and have explicitly said they aren't getting it because of it. You know how much I hate steam, I'm sure I've told you via PM before, the only reason I might get it (still undecided) is for the site. SH3 is an alright game, it's on the way to becoming a good one (if only it hadn't have been abandoned it might have been) but I just hate the steam element of it. It makes the game run incredibly slow - just looking at the time for the game to initially start up, the game takes about thirty seconds more to load than if it wasn't on steam, you connect to a server thousands of miles away, when in reality it was probably easier to just install the game on your system and be done with it. Then of course there's the old issue with bringing in a third part - you have to give steam your details for a 'free steam account' when in reality all you want to do is play the game, and it becomes more and more of a task to do just that. But, they aren't to be criticised, they're doing a great job, and this one will turn out to be a masterpiece! :) The game generally looks very good, I'll also point people in the direction of this video as it's pretty informative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nx2jwT9CRM -

For each month from now on, the moderation team will take everything into consideration a user does on the site (I.E. Forum Posts, Downloads Submitted, Articles Written.etc) and the user who they believe has put the most effort into helping the site, or has submitted the most things in total, generally, the most active member, will receive the following reward added to their signature: This month, the winner is EaglePrince for his excellent contributions to both our downloads section and our forums. He really has put a lot of effort in to making these places great places to hang out. Congratulations EaglePrince, and well done!

Categories reorganised, they now appear in order of release date. The game versions have also been added in. You can now submit a stronghold 1 file here: http://www.stronghold-nation.com/downloads/submit/stronghold-1/

Ok, those have been added thanks :) What about game versions? There will be 1, but any updates? The next step is to organise them so they aren't all over the place and actually have structure...
-
Stronghold 1 is currently not an option to upload files for in our download central. However, I will add one in for it. But since I have never played the game I do not know what categories to make for it. Would you be able to tell me which game modes exist in it?

The voting has now begun - I apologise for it being two days late, two days will be added onto next month.

Topic stuck as requested :)

Not at all, you post where you want. The worst that will happen is that it gets moved to another forum, and that's not that bad is it? :) Lord Vetka only meant that he would split the topic so you could have your own if you'd rather than having to go through his to get to yours.

Uploading skirmish map: few unnecessary options
Lord_Chris replied to EaglePrince's topic in Site Questions and Support
Rather than a 'mission', think of it as a scenario, that's how I think of it, a skirmish always has one scenario, whereas a custom war can have as many scenarios as you create for it (each scenario is a mission of it's own) No, there isn't that option at the minute, again just the number of estates. I can understand where you're coming from, a field for all the possible opponents on the map. I will try and add it in at some point (I can't say how long that will be as I'm extremely busy with other stuff at the moment) but it will require slightly more time to do because there isn't a field for it yet so I would have to completely create it from scratch. It certainly would help, I'll give you that. Hopefully some day in the near future I'll add it in. -
Uploading skirmish map: few unnecessary options
Lord_Chris replied to EaglePrince's topic in Site Questions and Support
It always has one mission otherwise you wouldn't be able to play it ;) Even though technically it's not a mission, you can still put that. If you don't want to put 1, there is a Not Applicable option at the bottom as N/A (Miscellaneous only) which you can select if you want. Also, if you can't select the difficulty of the map, select the difficulty of installing the file on your system - not exactly ideal, but I guess you know what I mean until I find a better way to accommodate this. The number of players is different to estates, I agree with you there. But, you have to think which would be the most widely used from all the games we cover. From stronghold 2 peace scenarios or free build, there may not be any other players on the map, and there never are for CivCity Rome. Stronghold 3 is likely to not have as well, and the same for Stronghold Legends as free build. I'll keep it in mind though if I ever do any major updating to it. -
If you're planning to use that as part of the contest, then sadly no. Otherwise, just completely ignore what I put as I probably misunderstood the reason why you posted it here. Image approved :)

Glad to hear :) And cool castle, very well built but... Your screenshot must be no bigger than 400x100px, but can be smaller than this and must be in your signature and link to this thread -> I think that's got a place in our gallery if you'd like?
