Stronghold Crusader 2 map in downloads section

Recommended Posts

Hi, I meant to ask do we have sections for Stronghold Crusader 2 maps in our downloads section. I saw one guy over at Stronghold Crusader 2 forum who uploaded his maps to some random file hosting website, and I wanted to recommend SHN downloads central, but I didn't see any section for Stronghold Crusader 2 maps.

I do realize that players will be able to share maps using Steam, but I believe many will still continue to use this method, because this way one could share the link to his master-peace, it would be way easier. I mean, I do admit I don't know how it works at Steam, but I guess one wouldn't be able to send the link to his map uploaded to Steam?

There is a download section (below), but since I haven't yet received the game I don't know what categories to add in, otherwise they would be now. They should be added in shortly.

No problem :)

Just so you know I am currently making a medium Military Mission for upload over the next 3 weeks. It won't be very long but it'll be a start :)

I don't have my own copy of the game yet, but I am sure this will serve at least to some players, who like to share their maps. :)

I will mention to that guy at Crusader 2 forum, that he can upload his maps here.

Thanks, Vetka! It is familiar indeed, I going to send you a PM about it right now, but you noticed it first. :)

For those others - I made the screenshot in Lord Vetka's Arden map. :)

I put this shield of mine, set graphics to highest quality, and I did it. The river looks really great!

If you would like to see a cool river download "Castle Fedron" at HG, you would probably like to play the map as well, it should be viewed in 1.4.1 though, the tinting gets messed up in 1.3.1.

I've just took a look at your map - it looks great! That cliff in front of the sea, sea coast itself, the river, the castle, and even that path - just like in some fairy tale, or some medieval movie. :)

I haven't tried to play it, but I already like it. I hope I'll be able to play it tomorrow. :)

I'll create another tread to tell my impressions - not to go off topic here.

Some people paint beautiful pictures during their free time, while you create beautiful maps. :)

I had not realized you can freely choose the version of your SH2 game and switch between them. Is that right?

If so, it would be really cool. I had thought the updater forces to play the highest available version.

But indeed a very nice signature pic, Eagle Prince. Compliments.

Yes, you can manually install the patches from our download section.

You're only forced to using steam. However, you do have to reinstall the game in order to alter patches added.

Thanks EaglePrince, I do like making maps, the more natural the better, thanks for starting a new thread about this map as well:-)

Yes Nigel, you can play in what ever version you want, Like Chris said you do have to reinstall to change back down to a lower version, I'm working on a way to have 2 versions installed at the same time,

When I came here we thought it best to use version 1.3.1, but that created some problems, like my last map posted "Dirvene", I started that map in 1.4.1 and changed to 1.3.1, that map went through some major changes before it would work properly in version 1.3.1, I have updated to version 1.4.1 and will stay there until I manage to get my dual boot working and can have both versions working.

The maps play properly with all versions, but the tinting can look strange from one to the other.

One guy tried to upload his map to our downloads central, and he failed. This is what he tells:

I can not insert the map tells me "You must select the version of the game this file is for." but there is no version in the list>.>

I realize there will be many versions right now, and it might be hard to keep everything up to date, but could we at least remove this question, or offer some answer, such as "latest patch", or something like that? Or we could make it so they would be asked for the version, they select "latest" or whatever, and after that, they could type in the version number.

Those are only some proposals, but I'm sure you know what to do.

This is the topic from Stronghold Crusader 2 forum where I spoke to him.

Talking of downloads, it may be worth adding another category: save games.

Some players may want to share their save games

a) for the purpose of bug hunting or for getting help because they are stuck in a certain mission.

b) because they have reached an intersting situation in one of their games and it could be interesting/challenging for others to try this as well.

Just a thought.

For the moment, I've added N/A as I an unaware of what patches are what (since my game has still not arrived yet...). Thanks for brining it to my attention!

I agree! I could be something like "miscellaneous files", so people could upload anything they want there, and which is not a map, or a scenario.

ADDITION:

You're welcome.

Sorry @Nigel, didn't see your post there. I've added a miscellaneous category - but before adding a saved games one how big is a saved game on average?

I just looked at the ones I have.

They seem to range from 2 to 9 MB. Most of them are between 4 and 7 MB.

Hi Chris,

you or some other admin may want to take a look at Denroth's uploaded map.

The mini map picture is gone - at least for my browser. It also seem that he edited or tried to edit the upload.

It is a very nice map, btw. I played it on multiplayer a few days ago - was a really fun match.

Ok, I'll add that category in then it's not that big.

I've fixed the image, thanks.
