Stronghold Legends 8th, 9th, 14th June

As a result of multiplayer now working again, we will be playing several SHL matches once more! This event will take place at 6 PM GMT all times.

 

Please post if you intend to join as unlike stronghold 2, the stronghold legends matches have much less users per lobby. We must know how many lobbies to setup!

I'm not sure as to whether you need to install the GameRanger client, I would guess so but I'll look into it more and post back here.

You should install the Game Ranger client, however, I have attempted a game earlier this morning and it appeared to work via GameSpy. So for tonight we'll play as normal and take it game by game as to whether we play by Game Ranger.

I already have Game Ranger, so if we need to use it, there should be no difficulty. :)

 

Also, I too realized Game Spy was working again. Yesterday I played some Star Wars: Battlefront II with some people, and that too requires Game Spy for standard multiplayer but can also be run on Game Ranger (which we did not use). It seems Game Spy has given us all an extra month (from the article about them on Wikipedia), which should hopefully give Game Ranger some time to crank out the proper coding to let the players continue to enjoy their classic games.

Rather than shutting down the servers on the 31st, I think they are shutting them down from the 31st. The good news being that we do not need to use a completely different software (I take it that you set games up differently, I've never tried?) currently.

It should, as I just quickly checked and saw some servers up. I think it will still work until next month, hopefully.

What do you think then? Should we risk the crashing or try GameRanger? I personally think GameSpy's the easier option, especially since it's still up.

Both options are fine by me, but GameRanger may be a bit more stable - we don't know until we try.

How about we try GameSpy, if and when that crashes, we go to GameRanger - but you'll have to set that up and give me some guidance, I've never used that before ;)
