Absolutely no use of trainers or other out of game cheats to gain a competitive advantage over other players or for any other reason. All players must abide by the same rules agreed beforehand on the site. Each game can set their own rules (e.g no burning carts) but all players must abide by these once playing. All discussion of the game rules must be done before the match starts. To minimise disruption and prevent potential disputes, all discussion must be done and rules made clear before playing the game. This prevents members from not knowing what they are walking into when they play. The Host has ultimate say over any settings. Members can request changes to eg starting settings, but ultimately it is the responsibility and final decision of the host to balance things out in everyone's favour. Do not expect Moderators to wade in on inter-factional disputes or police Tournaments. Make sure you have completed to the best of your ability the information in your user profile under the 'Multiplayer information' heading. Other users will need this information to quickly find you and connect with you via the platform you are using. Make sure you agree to the rules of multiplayer games in this forum. If you do not agree you should not join. If you sign up or play a game and do not abide by the rules you will be thrown out of this sub-community and not allowed to return again. Technical support for multiplayer related issues should be placed in the main forum for each game here. If you are not interested in directly playing with other members, you should not join or post in this community. Once you have scheduled a game or set this up, assuming it is appropriate to do so, you should post a Tournament in the Tournaments section. In other words, discussion around matches and games goes in this forum categorised by game, actual Tournaments and discussion thereafter go in a specific Tournament created for that event. You should discuss only that match and Tournament in that Tournament, including for instance any connection issues, wins/loses and much more. If you are looking to join or create a new Fsaction, this should be done in the Factions section of the Multiplayer forum. A minimum of 3 members are required to set up a new Faction. Factions are subject to their own creation rules.
  13. Greetings! Lately, @ Lord_Chris and me @ Asophix of the Stronghold Nation staff has started testing our mettle in Stronghold Legends again. Be it a friendly spar, or a true test of weapons and skill against wanderers on the Internet, we gladly invite everyone to our hearth! We frequently play both in an organized manner on Steam, via the in-game lobby system. Generally we prefer 10min peace time matches with low starting rank, low resources and no building or troop restrictions. We also record some of our matches and upload them on SHN's humble YouTube Channel! If you would like to play with us, hit us up here anytime!
  14. I don't know, I just think that we are happy that none if us wanted to misuse them actually. Imagine the situation for example where you send your knights to deal with a group of swordsmen, and then suddenly the opponent makes few if those, and deal a significant damage to your knights which are no longer able to ride. I think this is simply another mistake by Firefly, just like with those portable shields in Crusader which they combine with horse archers making an unstoppable unit. Not even crossbowmen in your towers can defeat them. As you might remember, I did learn how to fight like that, but I see no fun in that. Among other reasons - it's not the way it was meant to be played. In my opinion horse archers + portable shields are simply a game exploit, and I don't want our games to turn into a battle "who knows more exploits". And the thing with burning carts is in my opinion an exploit as well. They just run and spread fire. On what? On green grass? On dirt? That's horses**t. :D I don't thing they had gasoline back than, or napalm, or something like that. :D
  15. I think I have to disagree, Eagle. I think using burning carts is totally fine. Especially since they're really not that difficult to dispatch. There should perhaps just be a maximum amount allowed at one time per player. Taking out the leading cart will 9/10 result in the following carts to also go up in flames. They only work in weakly defended areas, and hence, are more strategic than one might think.
  16. Oh, yeah, I didn't notice that on the screenshot at first, Mathew. :D Yes, obviously if you wanted to, you could have sent them in huge numbers, and there is no way I could save my village from that without sacrificing too much valuable troops. That would clearly be misusing them in my opinion, but not something that couldn't be countered actually. With light cavalry, horse archers, and archers. I mean, playing like that would force us to use not only knights, but to include less expensive troops as well. But like I said, it's open to discussion. But that is for another thread. We have a thread for Stronghold 2 multiplayer rules here in the Gaming Events subforum. https://forums.stronghold-nation.com/topic/224-stronghold-2-multiplayer-rules/ The burning carts trick is listed there as well. "No intentional, consistent use of burning carts" By this we meant no intentional use of burning carts for attacking enemy army, while their consistent use for burning enemy villages like Caliph would do is allowed. You see, maybe this is an issue which could be solved by Firefly actually. Burning carts can attack enemy troops. Maybe they shouldn't allow this, burning carts should only be able to attack buildings, and not troops. Troops should only be collateral damage here. :) What are your thought about this matter? Reply to me in this thread. :) https://forums.stronghold-nation.com/topic/224-stronghold-2-multiplayer-rules/
  17. Hm, this is something worth talking about. It seems it only worked once as your horsemen and archers quickly took care of the carts. To be fair, it was more of a last ditch effort to delay your troops rather than part of my over all strategy. Also - good map Nigel! I'm thinking of making something similar to your map (big castle with small army, a couple big armies with no castle). We'll see how it goes! :D
  18. I meant for it to save "Nave!" My bad! It made me chuckle seeing the screenshots of Chris and I throwing insults at one another :P
  19. I don't get it what you mean by "naive :P ", Mathew? :) Nigel, it is easy now after the game to tell some observations. :P We can look at that game as a play-test for some future multiplayer scenarios. :) I'm here for any type of game, balanced, unbalanced, whatever. But both teams need to have something which goes into their favor. One team had something, the other had something else. Why not. :) Or it could be a completely unbalanced map on which one teams only advantage would be the number of players. :P
  20. "Nave!" :P This really was a lot of fun! I enjoyed both games, especially when the lag decided to die down. Two victories to Eagle and I, can't complain! :D We should definitely do it again sometime, perhaps on an unbalanced map in future?
  21. Good observations about this map, EaglePrince, both about the walls and the balance. I had not thought about the access to the roof as I simply adapted this scenario from my single player map. Indeed if I redo this decision-scenario, I will make the castle more symmetrical and also use a triangular map layout. That is a good idea. But now I am thinking of doinng something else to continue with this map. Perhaps a siege scenario or a raid on a monastry or a battle in front of the gates or whatever else we come up with. :)
  22. Oh, but about the Saxon fort... I think that my suggestion still holds, but there's another one as well. :) First, now when we look at the map, and the way how we were positioned, there was actually not other way, but to attack the castle first. The castle is in between. So maybe it would be better if the castle and the two armies formed a triangle? The other things is that, not only the castle was weak, but wooden walls are so weak, that we could have actually destroyed it really easily. That is why I think stone walls would have been better. But in this case players would need to have one or few catapults in additions to laddermen. I would give one catapult to each player. Oh, and this thing - the game wasn't balanced like this. :) You can see that we were able to climb on the stone barracks more easily than you, and that gave us an advantage. But that is no big deal to fix - just move the barracks to be more between the armies. You could also add an engineers guild at the opposite side of the fort, as well. To make it more interesting. And in the middle I might try to put a square tower with a ballista. Yup, this is a cruel one. :D Regarding the castle walls, it would have no towers, or maybe few small lookout towers. ADDITION: Yup, I made a mistake. It weren't barracks, but courthouse. Looking forward to see the monastery. :)
  23. I also have seveal screenshots of the first battle around the Saxon Fort and can expand on that story a bit. It was indeed the idea that the fort is only weakly defended and that the main battle should be between the two attacking armies of rivaling Normannic lords (and indeed it was). The decision the players had to make was if they want to attack the fort first and then try to hold it, or if they want to attack the other army first and then the winner hopes to have enough troops lelft to capture the fort. Here you see the starting position with Mathew (orange) and EaglePrince (light blue) against Charles (green) and Chris (dark blue). Well, what happened was that they both decided to attack the fort and clash on top of my head :D And quickly the fighting started on the battlements of the walls.... ... to continue in the castle yard, where the troops of Charles started to get into trouble. Lord Chris started a charge with his swordmen to come to his rescue. Then he decided to move his army around the castle in order to get his swormen to Mathew's archers on the roof (using their own ladder :P) That worked and the archers were quickly dispatched. But now the combined melee troops of EaglePrince and Mathew reached them and the final battle was decided on the roof of the prison. In the end, Mathew and EaglePrince carried the day and managed to get the fort free of enemy troops - with quite a few of their own troops left. Now this land shall belong to the Lloyd family henceforth. Sir Mathew has already said that he wants a monastry with stone walls to be erected here. It shall be done in due course :)
  24. I have another idea for a map like this. Almost the same, but with bandit camps in the middle, so that players would have to break through the outlaws in order to reach to each other. Maybe that could be done by editing this map. Just replace one river with two rivers between which would be bandits, and move the castle estates closer to the edge of the map to make more space for bandit camps. Another interesting thing for making the ambient more interesting might be to make marshes between the two rivers, so that bandits would be inside that marshy forests. I don't know what I would do with those bandits on the cliffs though. Maybe move them into the middle of the cliff. With a map like this we could make rules to start attacking each other after somebody breaks through the outlaws camps. Or in other words, we would have no peace time, but only time until we are able to start attacking. :P Or, we could simply play as we used to play. :P Oh, and Charles. You were using burning carts to attack our army. That is something that we were discussing before that we shouldn't use it, because it is unrealistic, and it can devastate slow troops such as swordsmen. I mean, I would definitely approve it if it was used to attack some buildings, and if I have some troops between those burned buildings, then it does make sense for my troops to burn. :D But I would leave to others to discuss it. I should note that burning charts are easily countered by archers, and by some fast melee units (in which case it would be smart not to send many soldiers to destroy the carts, but only few of them, because they will be caught by fire.)
  25. Edit: I see that EaglePrince posted in between the two posts for my battle report on the Saxon Fort, so I am moving the text into the second post. That should be easier to read now. I still need this one for holding the pictures (there can be only up to 5 pictures per post).
