Play as Lancelot as you take charge of Dolorous Gard (formally Joyous Guarde) against King Arthur and princes Beowulf and Dietrich. Arthur has set up camp to the north of you to recover Queen Guinevere. Prince Beowulf and Prince Dietrich block your path as Arthur amassees an army in an attempt to kill Lancelot.

You should hurry and build your defenses as Arthur as called upon the Orkney Clan to assault your castle. Gareth and Gawain are heading towards Dolorous Gaurde You must strike down all your enemies if you and Guinevere are to be safe.

HINTS

-It is recommended you place your stockpile southwest of your castle to make use of all the iron mines and your granary southeast somewhat near the stone.

-Build a wall blocking out the attackers. I built it towards Beowulf's castle along with moat and pitch since there is a lot of men at arms and ranged units meant to attack you.

-If you need to you can delete the initial castle I have built. I am well aware it is not a good design however it wasn't meant to be. The idea of it was to protect your stockpile with the oil tippers and to stop some swarms from happening

-The sieges whilst big are very few. This gives you a lot of time to prepare an assault. You start off with a lot of weapons and will need them. Make use of the moat in order to block troops from swarming in.

-Men at arms are going to be abundant in these attacks. The usage of pitch is highly recommended.

-There is a small gap in between the trees and the hill that protects you to the west of your initial defense. Whilst this is still closed off enemy troops can mass here. This is an ideal place to use pitch along with some killing pits for the many men at arms, archers, and crossbowmen trying to cut through here. Any knights should be dealt with by either the killing pits or your crossbowmen.

-Beowulf will attack the most often and is closest to you. However you can beat him quite easily using some knights and ranged units. After Beowulf is defeated the mission should be significantly easier.

-Dietrich's castle is not very well fortified. Although I did build him a castle and gave him a fair amount of troops the AI itself seems to not be very good in general. You can easily fill in the moat near the entrance of his castle and attack him then. I wanted the keep to face the gatehouse however when I did that it disappeared altogether.

-There is a small wall west of your castle. Should you choose to finish the mission faster you can attack from Arthur's north and finish the mission that way.
