Week #46 - Stronghold Crusader 2

Recommended Posts

Your challenge for this week is: Make a skirmish map in the Stronghold Crusader 2 editor named "The Dangerous Wilds". The map should have many tributaries, build a landscape that can be expanded into by the will of players, design high mountains, make glorious ruins. Make the map divided into several areas to explore, and expand!

What do you mean by 'build a landscape that can be expanded into by the players will' ?

That the players can expand easily from their own castle into places into the map, that e.g. defence structures can be placed, that the boundaries of each estate are wide enough that space should never be a problem, especially for defence.

I've started working on my map a few days ago and I'm almost finished. I think this map is going to be unlike anything you have ever seen in SHC2. Hopefully I can finish it on time.

That's fantastic @Andreas9541! If you don't manage to get it all finished on time, it's still ok for you to upload it. :)

Alright, the map is ready. I made a mistake of creating an extra large map which took me more time to edit the map and will probably cause some FPS drop but, like all of my maps I'm more concerned about the aesthetics side :)?

This map is fantastic! It is quite possibly the best skirmish map I've ever seen in Stronghold Crusader 2. From the marvellously detailed terrain to the great choke points on the map, this map is everything you could ever want and more!

Firstly, I'll start with the terrain. This was fantastic, the amount of detail put into it was amazing. The waterfalls looked very impressive and all were placed exceptionally well. The rivers and streams looked very natural and were well placed, and these not only looked good, but separated the different land areas very well.

The stone statues and ruins .etc which were placed really helped to lift the environment and add something extra to it, there were just enough to make it look effective but not too many so that it looks too much. And they were scattered over the place to really help with this and make it so much better. The cliffs on the map and hills were extremely effective because they created some excellent choke points around the map in various locations that makes it particularly good.

The landscape was especially suited to expansion, and there was a lot of space for this which again, advanced the map to a whole new level. Each player on the map had a fantastic amount of space to build up a settlement and there was a great amount of space around for mini-skirmishes. I actually think this would be a great multiplayer map for all of these reasons.

It's a fantastic map, and it's my honour to award you with three points. Congratulations!

Small update: I have noticed that two of the factions were in great disadvantage when it comes to resources. They were either lacking grassland or stone and iron or both. So I made sure to re balance that along with minor aesthetic changes. The map layout, mountains, lakes etc remains the same. So please download this file instead.?

Chris, if you are seeing this can you please take down the first file from my post? I can't edit it.

Thanks
