How Well Does Stronghold Legends V 1.2 Translate Into the Steam Edition?

Recommended Posts

So after having many crashing issues with version 1.2 of Stronghold Legends and shortly after realizing I lost the Stronghold Collection disk sometime after Christmas (if you don't know you can still play the Stronghold Collection games even if you lose the disk if the game is already downloaded to your computer) I uninstalled Stronghold Legends v 1.2 from my laptop a day or two ago. Today I did obtain the game again through Steam (yay!) and whilst playing through the King Arthur campaign (just completed The Making of Sir Gareth) it occurred to me that even though I do have previous map files saved onto another folder on my laptop I made those those maps with version 1.2.

Would placing the v 1.2 map files translate well into the Steam edition?

I don't want to have to remake about 5 ish maps. I already have two new map ideas that came to me yesterday and wanted to edit 1 other map to see if it's a map I want to post.

I wouldn't bet my life on it, but it seems to behave well enough. I played a few 1.2 skirmish maps in multiplayer and those worked out just fine. I got these transferred from another player, who originally downloaded them from Heavengames.

The best way to check though is to test out a few specimen by yourself. As of this post, all Legends maps submissions are pre-2013 on HG so you can't go wrong (https://stronghold2.heavengames.com/downloads/lister.php?category=shl_walkthrough).

As far as I am aware, maps are fully compatible between the versions. The only issue, if there was to be an issue, in my opinion, would be backwards compatibility (i.e. from Steam to 1.2) IF new textures etc were used.

You are most welcome to upload your maps to our downloads section once completed if you would like to 🙂

    • Content Highlight - the Lost King Campaign Legends Edition

Hello, good Lords and Ladies! It's to my pleasure to bring light to a custom Legends mission pack: The Lost King campaign by @ IgnasheunKnight ! Originally introduced as the War Campaign in Stronghold 2, this re-imagination serves to re-tell a very similar experience with the cast of Stronghold Legends. Controlling Sir Bedivere, you must work your way through hostile Ice and Evil lands either to restore the rule of King Arthur, or to show your might as the ultimate ruler over Europe.

    • Stronghold Legends Screenshots

Does anyone recognise these screenshots? I've been forwarded a link to a website by @ Average tahiti enjoyer initially speculating this was a mod, but I can find lots of different examples of the exact same screenshot being used on other websites so I'm beginning to wonder if it was released by Firefly instead, possibly as some kind of demo. I couldn't find any download links, at least on that website. I like this build and think it would be good to have as a mod of some kind.
