How Well Does Stronghold Legends V 1.2 Translate Into the Steam Edition?

Recommended Posts

So after having many crashing issues with version 1.2 of Stronghold Legends and shortly after realizing I lost the Stronghold Collection disk sometime after Christmas (if you don't know you can still play the Stronghold Collection games even if you lose the disk if the game is already downloaded to your computer) I uninstalled Stronghold Legends v 1.2 from my laptop a day or two ago. Today I did obtain the game again through Steam (yay!) and whilst playing through the King Arthur campaign (just completed The Making of Sir Gareth) it occurred to me that even though I do have previous map files saved onto another folder on my laptop I made those those maps with version 1.2.

Would placing the v 1.2 map files translate well into the Steam edition?

I don't want to have to remake about 5 ish maps. I already have two new map ideas that came to me yesterday and wanted to edit 1 other map to see if it's a map I want to post.

I wouldn't bet my life on it, but it seems to behave well enough. I played a few 1.2 skirmish maps in multiplayer and those worked out just fine. I got these transferred from another player, who originally downloaded them from Heavengames.

The best way to check though is to test out a few specimen by yourself. As of this post, all Legends maps submissions are pre-2013 on HG so you can't go wrong (https://stronghold2.heavengames.com/downloads/lister.php?category=shl_walkthrough).

As far as I am aware, maps are fully compatible between the versions. The only issue, if there was to be an issue, in my opinion, would be backwards compatibility (i.e. from Steam to 1.2) IF new textures etc were used.

You are most welcome to upload your maps to our downloads section once completed if you would like to 🙂

His intention is to create a program where the community can edit and create their own AI Castle Designs in Stronghold Legends. This is a truly historic moment and for the first time, you can now control aspects of Stronghold Legends which were previously never possible. The work far exceeds the orig

I'm trying to download Stronghold Legends on Steam and I'm having some issues. It first started with an update (which @ Sir Windows worked out might have been the post October update after Halloween) and I get one of two responses. One is attached below, the other is a could not connect style error. I know there are some options I haven't tried, but what I have done so far: Clear download cache (more than a few times) Login/out of steam (a few times at least) Hibernat

    • Stronghold Military Campaign

Back when Stronghold Definitive Edition released, I started replaying the military campaign. I got through missions 1 through 15 last year on normal difficulty. I then stopped for various reasons, but yesterday, I booted up the game again and am planning to finish the campaign on normal. I thought it would be nice to share my progress. I'm playing other games at the same time of Stronghold, so my progress might be a bit slow. Mission 16: Fighting Retreat Yesterday and today, I complete
