Ahh, nice. I have been waiting for another challange where I can play the game rather than make a map. That's just more my cup of tea. :)

But yes, this one is reallly tough.

I must admit that I did not take it seriously at first and just used what I had from the start without building up my siege camp. And mind you, that is already a lot of troops and weapons. But it was not near enough to win this mission.

Still I managed three attack waves: the first broke the outer gate, the second got me over the inner wall and the third had me set foot onto the enemy keep. But then the King launched his counter attack and defeated me with 32 month left on the clock.

I may have a chance to give it a second attempt tomorrow.

If I don't, Chris you can consider this as my sporting entry. :D

That sounds really unfortunate @Nigel. I've attempted this map myself in the past and did really well, right up until the point where my game crashed. Every subsequent attempt after this also crashed my game, so I never managed to complete it. :(

If no-one can actually manage to complete it, then if you upload the game where you got the furthest the person who got the furthest (and quickest) will win.

Ok, I managed to do a second attempt today and it went better - well sort of.

I dug in (which is the name of the game :) ) and build some defences and eco.

I ran 2 waves of attacks - the first one broke the outer gate and destroyed the barracks.

I discovered a hidden path and the second wave brought my knights onto the walls of the inner ring. They ran around it clearing if of archers and catapults. But they were to few and before they even managed to get down into the courtyard, the king's men had cought up with them.

The king seems to have a huge reserve of men. I beat off 2 of his attack waves, the last one was fended off with 3 month left on the clock.

I launched a desperate all-in attack but it was too late and the time was up before I could get there.

It felt much better than the first attempt, only that in this one I did not manage to set foot on the keep.

Chris, I will attach both save games and leave it up to you to decide which one you consider getting furthest.

A brilliant map in any case. :D

Unfortunately, I was doing some work, and I didn't find the time to play it. It's such a pity I haven't found any time by now to win this map - I mean at all, not just for this competition.

And I think that Nigel deserves all 3 points for his battle accomplishments, this mission really isn't easy. :)

Yes, Congratulations @Nigel, fir getting all 3 points. :)

I've taken the first entry you added (dugin_02.sh2) because it's the one which you were closest, you really did do well on that one! The second one was unfortunately just too late, but you also did a good job there too, it is a very rough map.

You just missed out on the first one, really unlucky!

Does anyone recognise these screenshots? I've been forwarded a link to a website by @ Average tahiti enjoyer initially speculating this was a mod, but I can find lots of different examples of the exact same screenshot being used on other websites so I'm beginning to wonder if it was released by Firefly instead, possibly as some kind of demo. I couldn't find any download links, at least on that website. I like this build and think it would be good to have as a mod of some kind.

I mean, this isn't only about enabling higher resolutions, and making the game to look better on wide screens and laptops, this is, as they say, almost all new or remastered textures, and improved mechanics. At least so they say.   So then I though, it would be awesome to have a Definitive Ed
