Sh2 Steam Edition - Economy Mission 4 Broken?

Recommended Posts

Hello - first time posting here but I've loved stronghold 2 from release till now.

Started playing the steam edition and it looks likes in the economy mission 4 the cart transports don't affect the granary level at all?
I've tried different food types but the bar doesn't increase at all after the cart arrives into the granary, no matter how many carts I send.

I've verified the files and there's no issue, but I'm honestly not sure what to do beyond this point since it's such a weird bug. I never ran into this with the retail version.
I appreciate any help, but I don't really expect much, thank you guys!

Hi Blanko2, thanks for your question.

I have to be honest when I say this is the first time I've ever heard of this bug as well. To confirm you've definitely referring to mission 4 (with the Wolves)? https://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/300-sim-campaign-mission-4-outlaws?_fromArticle=1

Or did you mean Mission 5 with Sir William's Castle?

I'm presuming you've tried the mission a few times to make sure it wasn't just a one-off bug, but I guess another question is does this bug happen anywhere else in the game, or just this mission?

oop i counted the start files wrong it's mission 5, my bad

I've tried restarting the game and retrying the mission a few times and no dice. in the first mission where you have use the carts they worked fine, i could get stone and wood to my own estate

even in the same mission i can get food to my own estate and i see the granary in sir william's estate fill up, too, it's just the bar that is unaffected.

when the bar hits zero the ui for it kind of messes up too and goes past the boundary.

i don't really know how I would check that bug elsewhere in the game tbh... i guess if there's another mission with a timer and a resource bar that decreases, maybe?

Did you have the same issue with the retail version? I guess the next step here would be to check and see if any of the buildings you placed in your own estate could be affecting the path the carter takes to the Granary... Stronghold 2 can be weird like that sometimes, particularly with moving invasions. It might be worth trying different building placements, to see if this is having an impact. Try to keep your buildings as clear as possible from the various points the Carter travels to.

I'm surprised you could even get it to run the installer with SecuROM in the first place because Microsoft disabled that about 7 years ago, offhand, I think. I'm sure it was September 2015. However I'm pleased you managed to solve the problem.

That's why I put my old PC with Windows 7 on it under my bed, I didn't throw it away just so I could play some of those good ol' games the old way!😁

And I know: virtual machines, and stuff like that, but this way I'm playing safe! Plus, the old PC is not old enough to be considered a garbage, I could use it for work too in case of need...

h-uh that's interesting. Maybe it would fail to run even if i installed it succesfully then?
it's the GamersGate version of the SH Collection so it's technically digital but the installer does seem to do securom activation

Totally, I have two Windows machines at the moment. Ironically, they both came originally with Windows 10 pre-installed but I removed it. One I bought in 2015 runs better on Windows 7 than Windows 8, and the other I bought two years ago and I use for work mainly, which uses Windows 8. To be honest, I'm going to stop using Windows altogether soon and just go to Linux instead. I already use it for my business anyway so it just makes sense - plus there's software you can use called Wine that will allow you to run Windows programs on Linux machines. I've already checked and all the Stronghold games are compatible. Happy days 😆

The so-called "security vulnerability" (KB3086255) that Microsoft fixed by disabling SecuROM was physical to the machine so you'd need disk drive access to exploit it anyway. I honestly don't know whether a digital download would work so that's an interesting question actually. My immediate instinct would say it probably wouldn't work, but if games are still being sold via a digital version then maybe there's some workaround that exists.

In Windows 7 & 8 you can uninstall the aforementioned update to make it work again, but in Windows 10 the functionality was completely removed. I have heard stories of such workarounds existing in Windows 10, but as I've never really used it I can't comment much. As always with Microsoft though you get a lot of smoke and mirrors, particularly when it comes to security.

AI in multiplayer - if you're still looking for "Stronghold 2 Manager"... For those of you that want AI back in the multiplayer so you can do co-op and can't find a solution, read on. The AI in multiplayer was removed from the non-steam version some time ago via a patch I believe. There was a solution using so-called "Stronghold2 Manager" some time back but that always showed up having viral content and was hard to find (and you had to trust...). • Stronghold 2 - Steam Edition, Version 1.5

Fairly recently, Firefly released a digital Steam edition of Stronghold 2 in order to keep up to date with the growing online digital market. Stronghold 2 on disc has not been selling with the change in computer hardware and in consumer needs. CD ROMs are no longer seen as a requirement of a computer and even pre-built systems often come without. Therefore, getting older games into the digital market allows Firefly to gain more and to also keep games up to date with relative ease.?   Currently,

Hi there! New to the forum, I asked this same question in SH2 Heaven and I was redirected here to see if someone could help me. Its just a quick modding question. I own both SH2 and SHL and I was wondering if it was possible to replace the model of the Lady (the one that appears when you build the Ladies Chamber) in SH2 with the model of the Ice Queen from SHL? Its a random question I know but I have tried already myself and all that happened is that the Lady became invisible when I replaced her

I noticed a few members of these forums have added the game "Holdfast: Nations at War" to their wishlist. Whilst I would love to be able to purchase a copy each, I don't have the money. However, the developers have put the game down by ?5 for a limited time 'for King George'. If anyone is interested, as it is a game that seems to appeal to our community, here is the page -? http://store.steampowered.com/app/589290/Holdfast_Nations_At_War/
